Cozy at Home: Winter Wellness Tips for Dogs (and Their Humans) ❄️ 🛋️

Shorter days. Colder nights. Fewer walks and more time spent indoors. Winter is cozy season — but it can also mess with your dog’s routine and mood. Just like us, dogs can feel the effects of less sunlight, chilly temps, and cabin fever.

The good news? A few small tweaks to your winter routine can keep your pup (and you!) feeling balanced, relaxed, and healthy all season long.

Here are some of our favorite ways to support winter wellness — from skin and coat care to snuggly enrichment.

🧴 1. Moisturize Their Skin & Coat

Dry air and indoor heating can wreak havoc on your dog’s skin — leading to itchiness, flaking, or dull coats. Help them out with a winter grooming refresh:

  • Switch to a soothing shampoo with ingredients like oatmeal, aloe, or neem

  • Use conditioning sprays to reduce static and keep coats soft

  • Add skin-supporting treats like sardines, green-lipped mussels, or organ meats for Omega-3s and anti-inflammatory benefits

💨 2. Keep It Fresh (Without the Bath)

Too many baths in winter can strip natural oils from your dog’s skin. Between washes, use fragrance-free grooming wipes or a deodorizing spray to keep things clean and comfy without drying them out.

Bonus: It’s way easier than a full bath when it’s freezing outside.

🧠 3. Create Indoor Enrichment Rituals

Cold weather doesn’t mean your dog’s energy goes away — it just needs a new outlet.

  • Rotate puzzle feeders or fill a Toppl with high-value freeze-dried treats

  • Try sniff-based games or hide-and-seek with treats or mini organs

  • Introduce soft chews or calming enrichment toys during evening wind-downs

Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise — especially when you’re skipping the long walks.

🧘‍♀️ 4. Lean Into the Cozy

Set the tone for restful, restorative days by creating a cozy little retreat for your pup:

  • Fluffy blankets or a warm bed near a sunny window

  • Calming sprays or chews for anxious or restless dogs

  • Matching pajamas or pullovers for peak cozy-core vibes

Winter is the season of slow — and dogs pick up on your energy. If you’re nesting, let them nest with you.

🛍️ 5. Refresh the Routine

The shift in seasons is the perfect time to evaluate your dog’s daily care:

  • Are their treats supporting their health goals?

  • Is their skin drier than usual?

  • Could they benefit from joint support or a new chew toy?

Small updates make a big difference — and your dog will feel the love.

Winter Can Be Wonderful (With the Right Support) 💛

Whether you're braving the cold for quick walks or staying inside with your pup and a cup of tea, winter is all about creating comfort and connection. With the right mix of wellness tools, treats, and cozy rituals, both of you can thrive until spring rolls back around.
