The holidays are behind us, the treat tins are (mostly) empty, and it’s time to reset. While you’re setting intentions and planning fresh starts, don’t forget your four-legged sidekick. January is the perfect time to check in on your dog’s wellness routine — and make a few easy changes that can add up to a happier, healthier year.

Here are a few simple, high-impact habits you can start now to set your pup (and you) up for a strong start in 2026.

🥗 1. Upgrade Their Snacks

Treats should be fun and functional. This year, aim to rotate in nutrient-dense, single-ingredient treats that offer real health benefits — like freeze-dried sardines, mussels, duck feet, or organs. These support skin, joints, digestion, and immune health.

Try This: Use high-value treats for training and meal toppers, not just rewards. Bonus enrichment, bonus nutrition.

🧠 2. Prioritize Mental Stimulation

A tired dog is a happy dog — but that doesn’t just mean longer walks. Mental exercise is just as important.

Try:

Start with 10–15 minutes a day and build a habit your dog will love.

🛁 3. Refresh the Grooming Routine

Dry winter skin? Shedding drama? Time for a grooming reset. Incorporate gentle, skin-soothing products into your routine to keep things calm and clean.

Little steps = big shine.

🧘‍♀️ 4. Focus on Calm, Not Just Control

Training is important — but so is emotional regulation. Support your pup’s nervous system with:

  • Calming chews for vet visits or guests

  • Lavender sprays for bedtime routines

  • Cozy corners or quiet-time rituals after play

You’d be surprised how much a consistent wind-down routine can help behavior and overall wellness.

🧼 5. Out With the Old (Stuff)

January is declutter season! Toss the crusty toys, expired treats, or old grooming products. Refresh their essentials with high-quality, clean-ingredient replacements that reflect how much you care.

And yes, a fresh bandana or new matching set totally counts as a wellness boost. (We don’t make the rules.)

🐶 This Year, Let’s Keep It Simple

No need for a full overhaul. Just a few consistent changes — better treats, more enrichment, and mindful moments — can make a huge difference in your dog’s day-to-day happiness and long-term health.

You’ve got this. And we’ve got the goods to help you get started.
